Frequently Asked Questions About Retirement Coaching

1

What happened to Retirement Life Coach Nancy?

I'm still here! I simply rebranded under one name—NancyStampahar.com.

As my work in The Villages expanded beyond retirement coaching into speaking, workshops, and community empowerment, it made sense to bring everything together under one umbrella. While the name has changed, my mission hasn't: helping people create a life they truly love after 55.

Frequently Asked Questions About Retirement Coaching vs. Financial Planning

Financial planners help you prepare financially for retirement.

I help you prepare personally for retirement.

Many people spend years planning their finances but very little time planning how they'll spend their days, redefine their purpose, build friendships, or create a fulfilling lifestyle. Retirement coaching focuses on the human side of retirement—the part money alone can't solve.

3

What's the difference between a retirement coach and a life coach?

Life coaches help clients navigate a wide variety of personal or professional goals.

A retirement lifestyle coach specializes in one of life's biggest transitions: moving from a career-centered identity to creating a meaningful, enjoyable, and purpose-filled next chapter. While many coaching principles overlap, retirement coaching is uniquely focused on the opportunities and challenges of life after full-time work.

4

What's the difference between coaching and therapy?

Therapy often focuses on healing and understanding the past.

Coaching focuses on creating the future.

As a retirement lifestyle coach, I help clients gain clarity, build confidence, set meaningful goals, and intentionally design a fulfilling next chapter. While coaching can be deeply transformational, it is not a substitute for mental health counseling or therapy.

5

Do you provide your coaching services with The Villages residents?

To honor the privacy and comfort of those who live in The Villages, I do not provide private retirement lifestyle coaching to local residents.

Instead, I invite residents to join my Enrichment Academy classes or my women's resident lifestyle club, Empower Your Power, where they can learn, grow, connect, and thrive in a supportive community.

6

Who do you work with?

I work with adults who want to make their next chapter more intentional, meaningful, and fulfilling.

While many of my clients are retired or approaching retirement, anyone navigating a major life transition can benefit from retirement lifestyle coaching.

7

Do I have to be retired to work with you?

Not at all.

Many people begin coaching several months—or even years—before retirement. Planning your lifestyle before you retire often makes the transition smoother and more enjoyable.

8

Will we just talk or will I have homework?

We will have two-way conversations, and both of us will have homework.

Like anything, the best results take time and effort.

9

Do you offer virtual coaching?

Yes! I work with all coaching clients virtually, allowing me to help individuals wherever they live.

10

How long does coaching usually last?

I have streamlined my process to include two comprehensive 1-hour coaching sessions and multiple self-reflective worksheets. Additional coaching sessions are available upon request.

11

What makes your approach different?

Before becoming a retirement lifestyle coach, I spent more than 25 years in human resources, organizational development, training, and performance management—helping thousands of professionals grow and reach their potential.

Today, I combine that professional expertise with eight years of real-life experience listening and talking with retirees in The Villages to address many of the frequently asked questions about retirement coaching in a practical, compassionate way. I see what works and what doesn't. My sincere desire is to help aging people not fade away and become invisible. I want to do my part to create not just successful retirements, but a joyful, healthy lives.

12

What classes do you teach at The Villages Enrichment Academy? And can anyone attend?

Yes! My classes are open to the public.

Current classes include:

  • Congratulations on YOUR Retirement! ~ Now What?

  • Friendship Strategies ~ How to Find Your People

  • The Power of Purpose

  • Empower Your Power for Men & Women

Whether you're newly retired or simply looking for more purpose and connection, there's something for everyone.

13

Do you speak at The Villages resident lifestyle clubs?

Absolutely! I enjoy speaking for resident clubs and organizations throughout The Villages.

One of my signature presentations is:

The Power Behind Thriving in Your 60s, 70s, 80s & Beyond

I customize presentations to inspire audiences with practical strategies for living their best chapter.

14

Do you speak outside The Villages?

Yes!

While I'm currently helping care for my mother, I limit most speaking engagements to locations within approximately a one- to two-hour drive of The Villages.

Feel free to reach out—I'm always happy to discuss possibilities.

15

What is Empower Your Power?

Empower Your Power is The Villages' first resident lifestyle club dedicated to personal growth for women.

Creating positive change in people's lives has always been my greatest passion, so I launched the club as my volunteer give-back to the community.

Together, we learn, laugh, encourage one another, and navigate this exciting stage of life with confidence, resilience, and purpose.

16

Are you retired?

Yes—and I absolutely love this chapter.

I'm retired from the full-time corporate world but intentionally choose to continue doing work that brings me purpose, passion, and connection. In fact, I no longer call it "work."

I call it my pickleball.

Just like pickleball, it energizes me, challenges me, connects me with wonderful people, and brings me joy. I believe the most fulfilling retirements include three essential ingredients: purpose, passion, and connection.
